The Anime I Watched in 2024

I didn’t watch a lot of anime last year. It was easily the lowest amount of anime I’ve watched, maybe ever. With that being the case, though, there was still some good stuff I watched and I’m excited to watch more this year that I missed.

#3. Pokémon: Jirachi, Wish Maker (2/10)

Runtime: 1hr 21 mins – Studio: OLM – Dub/Sub – Aired: 2003 – MAL Rating: 6.75 – Genres: Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy

I actually mistook this movie for the other movie Jirachi appeared in but I still gave it a watch with my gf when we were going through our Pokemon phase and well if you saw my movie list then you would know how bad this was. Having no nostalgia for this particular movie and just watching it, it was bad. The plot was boring. The visuals were very rough at times. Among all the pokemon movies Ive seen, this is by far the worst.

#2. Pokemon Concierge (8/10)

Episodes: 4 – Studio: dwarf – Dub/Sub – Aired: 2023 – Finished – MAL Rating: 7.69 – Genres: Fantasy

On the flip side! This was really good. As much as I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the mainline Pokemon stuff, the side stuff often hits. This was visually very appealing and calming, with its stop motion animation. The music was great. The story was very cute and sweet. I want to see more in this world. I hope we get a second season or a just more Pokemon mini series like this. There’s so much potential.

#1. Ponyo (8/10)

Runtime: 1 hr. 40 min. – Studio: Studio Ghibli – Dub/Sub – Aired: 2008 – Finished – MAL Rating: 7.95 – Genres: Adventure, Award Winning, Fantasy

Ponyo was so cozy. I think this was only my third Ghibli movie. I went to see the Boy and the Heron back when it released and I watched Spirited Away a few years ago. It’s definitely my least favorite of the three, but I still really enjoyed it. Like I said, cozy vibes, great animation, a very sweet story. I could randomly put this on any day and just enjoy it. One of my favorite movies from last year and easily my favorite anime.
